A US court in California recent ruled in favor of a video that went viral in 2007 for using copyrighted material as fair use. The court ruled that copyright holders must consider fair use of their material and not immediately strike it down. The power on YouTube currently lies in the hands of the copyright holders to do whatever they want with their material, but hopefully rulings like this mean that fair use will be considered more seriously before copyright holders quickly strike down our content.
